Charles “Buck” Willis of Denton, MD passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Denton. He was 95 years old.
Born in Andersontown near Denton, Mr. Willis was the son of the late Edgar Southern Willis and Susan Marie Hunter Willis. His wife, Elizabeth Tribbitt Willis died January 25, 2017.
Mr. Willis graduated from Caroline High School in Denton. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, having served in the Western Pacific during the Liberation of the Philippines. He became the Foreman of the Delvale Ice Cream Plant in Denton, later retiring in 1984 from the Southland Dairy Company. He was a Past Commander of Caroline American Legion Post 29 in Denton.
Mr. Willis is survived by a daughter, Suzanne W. Schmick (Steve) of Denton; a son, Charles Willis (Norma Johnson) of Lewes, DE; one sister, Ann Lord of Denton; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Willis was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters: Helen, Edward, Harry, Ruth, Dick, Margaret, William, Mary and Florence.
An American Legion Memorial service will start at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 9th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. 2nd Street in Denton immediately followed by the funeral services. There will be a viewing/visitation from 11 until Noon before the service.
The interment will be in the Denton cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 (1-800-342-2383).
