Clara Ruth O’Brien of Denton, MD passed away on February 27, 2018 at the UM Midshore Hospital Center in Easton, MD. She was 89 years old.
Born in Severn, MD on December 2, 1928, Mrs. O’Brien was the daughter of the late John Richard Sappington and Emma Gertrude Martin Sappington. Her husband of sixty years, Paul E. O’Brien, died July 3, 2013. In 1991, Mrs. O’Brien and her husband moved to Denton from Arnold, MD. She was a member of the Living Waters Assembly in Denton where she loved her church family. Among the highlights of her life was working and volunteering at the Wesleyan School and Samaritan House in Denton.
Mrs. O’Brien is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Marie Johnson (Roger, Sr.) of Severna Park, MD; two sons: Paul Richard O’Brien (Judi) of Dover, DE and Daniel Lee O’Brien (Debra) of Pasadena, MD; three sisters: Dorothy Hubbard, Alice Higginbotham, and Nancy Sykes; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and four special devoted friends: Dave Davis, Dolores Anderson, Catherine Wright, and Patti Thomason. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Ann Bailey, and a sister and brother: Sarah Thompson and Richard Sappington.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 6th at the Living waters Assembly on Double Hills Road in Denton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Monday evening at the Moore Funeral Home, PA, 12 S. Second Street in Denton. The interment will follow at 1 PM in the MD Eastern Shore Veterans’ Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
