Frances L. Smith of Greensboro, MD, passed away at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, MD on Friday, March 9, 2018. She was 87 years old.
Born in Denton on October 17, 1930, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Conrad Lane and Elizabeth Sloan Lane. Her husband, John Walter Smith, Jr., died May 28, 2005. Mrs. Smith graduated in 1946 from the Caroline High School in Denton. In addition to being a homemaker, wife and mother, she had been a bookkeeper for Southern States and Hershey Ice Cream in Denton.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Sharon Gray (Doug) of Denton; a son, Ronald Smith (Jean); four grandchildren: Bryan Gray and Megan Gray, both of Denton, and Jeff Smith of Hurlock and Greg Smith of Cambridge; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Agnes Lattanzio, Margaret Little, Mary Scurto, and Grace Towers; and a brother, William Lane.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 13th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 10 until 11 before the service. Rev. Robert Mackert will officiate. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
