George James Hostetter, Sr. of Preston, MD, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, MD. He was 94 years old.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 21, 1925, Mr. Hostetter was the son of the late Franklin James Hostetter and Pearl May Janney Hostetter. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, as a young man, he learned the auto body repair and painting trade on the GI Bill and worked professionally for 45 years, mostly for Cadillac. He and Mildred moved to Caroline County 13 years ago after more than 39 years in Howard County MD.
Mr. Hostetter is survived by his wife, Mildred Good Hostetter of Preston; three sons: George James Hostetter, Jr. and his wife Patti of West Yellowstone, MT, Stephen Alden Hostetter and his wife Cathy of Churchton, MD, and Bryan Kent Hostetter of Catonsville, MD; one half-brother, Frank Hosteller of North Carolina, and two half-sisters: Charlotte Ingle and Vickie Hostetter of Tennessee.
Memorial services are private. If friends wish to make memorial donations in Mr. Hostetter’s memory, the family suggests sending them to the Berwyn Baptist Church, 4720 Cherokee Street, College Park, MD 20740.
