Robert Lee Calloway of Queen Anne, MD, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his home near Queen Anne, MD. He was 91 years old.
Born in Denton, MD on July 15, 1928, Mr. Calloway was the son of the late James Clifford Calloway and Mildred Roberta Stevens Calloway. A 1946 graduate of Centreville High School, Mr. Calloway was a State of MD Fisheries Technician for the MD Department of Natural Resources, raising fish and stocking bodies of water. He was active in the Ridgely Church of The Brethren where he was a Deacon and faithful member all of his adult life. He was an avid hunter, coin collector, and a fan of the Baltimore Orioles. However, most of all, he was a fan of all things related to his large and happy family. He loved country living and never lost his appreciation for viewing wildlife in his own backyard or wherever else he could find it.
Mr. Calloway is survived by his wife of 68 years, Verna Mae Crouse Calloway of Queen Anne; one daughter, Lizabeth Ann Calloway Judy (Stephen) of Greenwood, DE; six sons: Robert Lee Calloway, Jr (Debra) of Queen Anne, Daniel K. Calloway (Silke) of Potomac, MD, Darryl C. Calloway (Lucia) of Millington, MD, Gregory M. Calloway of Galena, MD, David C. Calloway (Lisa) of Queen Anne, and Jonathan N. Calloway (Deneen) of Media, PA; two brothers: William R. Calloway (Kim) of Denton Gary S. Calloway of Ridgely, MD; one sister: Beverly Banks (Edward) of Bridgetown, MD; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Norman W. Calloway, J. Clifford Calloway, Paul A. Calloway, and Charles E. Calloway.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 24th, at the Ridgely Church of the Brethren where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The interment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Hillsboro, MD.
