William "Sam" Dowell

     William “Sam” Dowell, Sr. of Easton, MD passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Homestead Manor in Denton. He was 95 years old.

     Born in Cana, VA on September 25, 1922, Mr. Dowell was the son of the late John Nathan Dowell and Lala Gray Towe Dowell. His wife, Faye C. Dowell, died January 11, 2015. Mr. and Mrs. Dowell moved to Denton in 1968 from Lexington, NC where he had been a truck driver. They returned to NC in 1994 and returned to Easton in 2004. They had moved to Homestead Manor in 2012.

     Mr. Dowell is survived by his son, William “Sammy” Dowell, Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD; two daughters: Vicki Peranio (Vincent) and Tammy Stivers (Jerry, Jr.), both of Denton; two sisters: Marlene Clifton of King, NC and Arlene Surratt of Cana, VA; four grandchildren: Denise Richardson (Lance), Vince Peranio, Jr. (Brittne), Jerry Stivers, III (Kristen), and Wade Stivers (Tori); five great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Tom Cress of Covington, GA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Cress; a great grandson, Wade Stivers, Jr.; five brothers: Clifton Dowell, Bobby Dowell, Nathan Dowell, Frank Dowell, and R.L. Dowell; and one sister, Virginia Dowell.

     Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 12th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 12 to 1 before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery, 24865 Meeting House Road in Denton.
