Allyson A. Hlasney

Allyson A. Hlasney passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at her home in Denton, Maryland. She was 72 years old.

Mrs. Hlasney was born on Staten Island, NY in February of 1951 to the late Bertram Paul Pratt and Alice Theresa Boyle Pratt. She graduated from Curtis High School and then the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, where she was a member of the synchronized swimming team.

She had a lifelong love of horses, competing in dressage on her beloved “Dylan” through her retirement years. Her love of animals extended beyond horses. She served on the Caroline Co. Humane Society Board and had a sweet spot for the occasional stray dog that ended up as a household pet. When not riding her horse, Allyson was known for her love of books and her commitment to completing the daily crossword (with ease).

Above all, Allyson was a committed and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had an incredibly kind heart and giving spirit, always putting others’ needs above her own. She was loved greatly by her family and friends.

Allyson is survived by her loving husband, Paul J. Hlasney of Denton; two daughters: Jennifer Van Doren (Mike) of Lebanon, NJ, and Cynthia Allen (Ben) of Alexandria, VA; son, Paul B. Hlasney (Erin) of Bel Air, MD; seven grandchildren: Olivia, Jack, Jodie, Mallory, Benjamin, Paul, and Adam; and sister, Cynthia D’Affronte of Manalapan, NJ.

Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 to 1:15 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD 21629. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church 108 1st St, Denton, MD 21629.
