Audrey May Schmitt of Denton, MD, passed away at the University of MD Shore Medical Center at Easton, MD on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was 82 years old.
Born in Easton, Mrs. Schmitt was the daughter of the late John Henry States and Ida May McMullin States. She was a 1960 graduate of North Caroline High School in the first graduating class from there. She had worked for both Electrotherm and Palmetto companies in Denton before retiring. She had also been a member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary as well as being a member of the Ridgely Baptist Church before becoming a member of the Denton Church of Nazarene.
Mrs. Schmitt is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert Schmitt of Denton; a daughter, Donna S. Messick of Hurlock, MD; two grandchildren, Edward Myers, Jr. and Ashly Abbott (Brent); and five great grandchildren: Cayden, Layla, Levi, Ryleigh, and Brent Abbott, Jr.. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters: D. Margaret Jump, Marie Shaffer, Eva Gray, Gladys Saulsbury, and Mary States; and seven brothers: Dawson States, Earl States, Wilson States, Carlton States, Francis States, J. Henry States, and Irvin States.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, September 23rd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 12 Noon until 1before the service. The interment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Hillsboro, MD.
