Beatrice Geisel of Denton, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the UMSMC at Easton, MD. She was 90 years old. Born on November 19, 1930 in York, PA,
Mrs. Geisel was the daughter of the late Emory A. Sweitzer, Sr. and Rozadie Alwine Sweitzer. Her husband of 63 years, C. Wayne Geisel, died December 15, 2018.
Mrs. Geisel graduated from the State Teachers College in Millersville, PA. She moved to Caroline County in 1955 when she and her husband were married. She taught elementary school in Greensboro for several years before starting a family. An avid reader, Mrs. Geisel loved volunteering at the Caroline County Public Library. She was an honorary member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Company and an honorary member of the Burrsville Ruritan Club where she spent countless hours volunteering and helping with their fundraisers. She was a member of the Denton Women’s Club and was the Treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the Burrsville Union United Methodist Church.
Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and working jigsaw puzzles. Even though she never drove a day in her life, she loved attending her grandchildren’s concerts, award ceremonies, sporting events, and Grandparent Days.
Mrs. Geisel is survived by her two sons: Guy W. Geisel and his wife, Amy, and Gary A. Geisel and his wife, Amy, both of Denton; seven grandchildren: Melinda Robinson (Douglas), Pamela Zenie (Alex), Hunter Geisel, Forrest Geisel, Lacie Geisel, Weston Geisel, and Blake Geisel; two great grandchildren, Lily and Kristine; two sisters, Linda Slominsky of York, PA and Jane Sweitzer of Lancaster, PA; a very special cousin, Linda Shepard (Larry) of Mt Gilead, OH; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 3rd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 before the service. Reverend George Simmons will officiate. The interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park on Rt. 50 near Easton.
