Betty E. Detwiler of Denton, MD departed this life on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. She was 91 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Mrs. Detwiler was the daughter of the late Julian Calvert Edgar and Mabel Paul Edgar. She was a 1950 graduate of Easton High School. Betty was a member of St. Luke’s UMC, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 29, and VFW Auxiliary of the former Post 7937. In her working life, Mrs. Detwiler had been an operator for C & P Telephone, a florist with Colonial Florist, and worked at Technitrol in Greensboro until 1988. Betty’s best and favorite position was being a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Those whose lives she touched will dearly miss her. She also enjoyed playing bingo, camping, puzzles, cooking, and spending time with family.
Betty is survived by three daughters: Brenda Harris (Ronald) of Denton, Barbara Beaudet, and Judy Cook (Keith) of Denton; son, Michael Judge (Brenda) of Harrington, DE; eight grandchildren: Rhonda Passwaters, Becky Harris, Julius Beaudet, A’lahna Beaudet, Lydia Judge, Liz Davis (Ben), Amanda Bozarth (Sam), and Nicole Cook, six great-grandchildren: Steven, Sierra, Jay, Tristan, Tanner, and Ivy; and one great-great-grandchild, Jay. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Detwiler; brother, Julian C. Edgar, Jr.; and four sisters: Myrtle Milligan, Marie Braswell, Doris Edgar, and Edith Harding.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, March 27, 2023, at 10:45AM from the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., located 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD. Friends may visit with the family from 10-10:45 AM before the service. Burial will be in the MD Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery located 6827 E. New Market Ellwood Rd. Hurlock, MD.
