Carolyn Holden Causey of Ridgely, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at UMMS Shore Regional Center at Easton surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.
Born on March 25, 1949, in Easton, MD, she was the daughter of Mary Frances Harrison Holden, and the late Kennard Ellsworth Holden. Carolyn grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Caroline High School in 1967; after graduating from high school Carolyn went on to work for C&P Telephone Company in Easton, MD, alongside her mother and her twin sister Marilyn. While working at C&P Telephone she was set up on a blind date which ended up being the love of her life Allen, they were married for 27 wonderful years and had a son Michael, who they were so proud of and treasured more than anything. She later moved on with her career at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD where she was still working for 41 years and held several distinct positions with her most current one being Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Liberal Arts & Science Department. She also worked part-time at Kohl’s in Easton, MD for several years. Carolyn was a lifetime member for 58 years of service in the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she held every officer position with the most current being Treasurer. In her spare time Carolyn enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Chesapeake Women’s Bowling Association & the Greater Chesapeake USBC where she served as President and Board Member. She bowled on several different leagues and attended several tournaments across the Country for over 20 years. Her other hobbies included sewing, where she won ribbons with the 4-H fairs for quilts along with many other talented pieces she made. Carolyn was an amazing baker and cook, she was well known for many dishes and baked goods but she was best known for her macaroni and potato salad along with her apple and coconut cake. She also enjoyed going to the different casinos, and her playing scratch-off tickets, which she did win many times. But Carolyn’s most important thing in life was being a loving daughter, grandmother, mother, sister, wife, and friend to so many. Her love and devotion for her family, friends and everyone that knew her was so incredibly strong, to know her and to be loved by her was a gift and she will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on with all the wonderful memories we have of her.
Carolyn is survived by one son, Michael Causey (Amy) of Ridgely, MD; two stepsons; Darren Causey (Robin) of Port Charlotte, FL; David Causey Sr. (Kathy) of Naples, FL; six grandchildren: Brooke Causey, Kassidy Townsend, Chelsey Townsend, Ashley Causey, Heather Causey, and David Causey Jr. and one great-grandchild; Audrey; along with one sister, Lisa Korell (Mark) of Ridgely, MD, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a countless number of wonderful co-workers and friends; In addition to her father, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Allen Causey; two brothers; Wayne Holden and Warren Holden; and her twin sister, Marilyn Brown.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 10am to 12 at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD 21629. The funeral service will follow, with the Burial at Green Mount Cemetery, Hillsboro, MD. Fellowship will be at Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department.
