Catherine Poe Bertling

     Catherine Poe Bertling of Denton, MD, formerly of Laurel, MD, died peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2020. She was 99 years

     Born on September 14, 1921 in Laurel, Maryland, Mrs. Bertling was the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Green Poe.  She is preceded by her husband, Charles Bertling.

     Catherine was a stay at home mother. She cherished that time, raising her three children and later seeing her grandchildren reach adulthood. Having spent almost all of her life in Laurel, she moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland with her daughter Linda.

     Two of Catherine’s favorite activities were league bowling and playing the slots. She was so delighted each time they ventured into the casino. It would always bring a smile.

     Mrs. Bertling is survived by one daughter, Linda Holder of Denton, ten grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two children, Joyce Lilly and Charles Bertling, Jr., and a great granddaughter, Carla Tjarks.
