Catherine M. Burklew

Catherine Mae Burklew of Denton, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Tidal Health Hospital Salisbury. She was 86 years old.

Born on April 18, 1939, at home in Denton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Virgil Hill and Sallie Elizabeth Jester Hill. She loved to go to yard sales, shopping; loved Dunkin Donuts and DQ dates with her granddaughter. She liked to sit on the porch and be outside in her flower beds and painting. She loved roses. Picking and eating crabs during summer. She loved her cat, Sugar, and her granddaughter’s dogs, Remi and Goose. She loved her great grandkids very much and spoiled them every chance she could.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Frank Burklew; two daughters: Lisa Burklew and Debbie Burklew; granddaughter, Tiffany Shifflett (Ricky); and two great-grandchildren: Abby Shifflett and Matthew Shifflett. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Burklew; two brothers: Alan Hill and Virgil Hill; and four sisters: Ethel Neal, Elizabeth Bell, Florence English, and Betty Hill.

The viewing will be Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10 to 11AM, at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD 21629. Funeral service will follow at 11AM. Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
