Charles A. “Short Wheel” Hollingsworth of Denton, MD, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. He was 84 years old.
Born in Greensboro, MD, Mr. Hollingsworth was the son of the late George Edward Hollingsworth and Margaret “Peggy” Edith Adele Lurch Hollingsworth. His wife, Carolyn V. “Carly” Hollingsworth, passed away December 18, 2010. Mr. Hollingsworth was a 1954 graduate of Greensboro High School. He had been a truck driver for Gordon Hollingsworth, retiring in 2008. He liked shooting pool, horse racing, watching Orioles baseball, and cutting grass on his riding mower.
Short Wheel is survived by two sons: Charles A. “Porky” Hollingsworth, II (Becky) of Salisbury, MD and Scott Hollingsworth (Shelly) of Denton; nine grandchildren: Brittani Thomas (Kevin), Chelsea Carlisle (Teryl), Amanda Warden (Chris), Brooke Harrell (Andrew), Samantha Sharp (Wesley), Douglas Hollingsworth, Allana Keller (Will), Seth Breeding, and Hannah Hollingsworth; and nineteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald “Skeeter” Hollingsworth on February 29, 1992; three brothers: John Edward “Sonny” Hollingsworth, Richard Eugene “Buck” Hollingsworth, and Jay Douglas Hollingsworth; and a sister, Janet E. Smith.
There will be a visitation with the family from 6 until 7 on Tuesday, July 13th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. in Denton with Military Honors at 7 immediately followed by a memorial service.
