Charles Ireland Obituary

      Charles Henry Ireland passed away on June 19, 2025. Born in Denton, Maryland on July 28, 1941, he was born, raised, and continued to live in Denton all his life.

     Charlie was the first son of the late John Henry Ireland “Judy” and Pearl Etta Harris Ireland. On June 17, 1961, he married Frances Good and shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage.

     Charlie graduated from Caroline High School in 1959. He received degrees from Chesapeake College, a Bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University plus Master level classes from Salisbury University.

     Charlie was a life member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Dept. He held many positions including Fire Chief, President, Ambulance Captain, E.M.T., and was inducted into the Maryland State Firefighters Hall of Fame in May of 1999.

     Charlie worked at Choptank Electric Coop. for thirty- six years, retiring as Vice President for Corporate Services and was their Chief Financial Officer. After retiring from Choptank Electric he worked part time at Denton Hardware as their accountant and worked part time at Accounting Strategies Group LLC for 10 years. Charlie was involved in many public service and volunteer positions all his life, some of which included; St Luke’s Methodist Church, Denton Volunteer Fire Dept., Ambulance Squad, Jaycees, Denton Little League, Cub Scouts, School P.T.A., Chief Election Judge, Caroline County Zoning board, and Rotary. He was an avid sports fan, following many of the local teams and had Terrapin basketball season tickets for over thirty years. He spent most of his life serving and helping others in need.

     Charlie was the best husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, and friend anyone could ever hope for in life. He was loved or liked by everyone who knew him.

     Charlie is survived by his wife Frannie, his son John (Chuck) Ireland (Ronda), daughter, Wendy Bradley (Robert), and daughter, Amy Brandt (Nick). Six grandchildren: Nash Ireland (Rachel), Abby Christopher, Will Ireland, Macy Brandt, Taryn Brandt, and Kenie Brandt. He also had six great grandchildren; Brantley, Brody, Charli, Daxton, Declan, and Clayton. Charlie has two brothers; Tom, (Beverley) and Robert (Sharon) Ireland. His in-laws and nephews and nieces were also special to him.

     A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 100 S. Fifth Avenue in Denton on Thursday, July 3rd. There will be a family visitation time from 10am to 11:30am, and the funeral will follow at 11:30. Burial will be private.
