Charles Henry Stubbs of Chester, VA, formerly of Denton, MD, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, VA. He was 71 years old.
Born at home in Denton, Mr. Stubbs was the son of the late Leroy Stubbs and Esther Irene Ecenrode Stubbs. He grew up in Burrsville, MD near Denton and was a 1972 graduate of North Caroline High School.
Mr. Stubbs had worked as a Grain Merchandiser for Southern States for 22 years before doing the same for Perdue Farms for 21 years, retiring in 2020. After retirement, he continued to stay active in the agriculture/grain industry as a member of the VA Agribusiness Council. When he lived in Caroline County, MD, he was a member of the Burrsville Ruritan and was a member of the Denton Church of the Nazarene. A gifted musician with a great and infectious personality, he often played his guitar in churches and events.
Mr. Stubbs is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy G. Stubbs of Chester, VA; a son, Brent C. Stubbs (Abby) of Hagerstown, MD; a daughter, Renee Kristin Wassum (J.D.) of Richmond, VA; a sister, Barbara Dill (Tom) of Lynchburg, VA; a brother, Robert Stubbs (Lee) of Harrington, DE; and three grandchildren: Madison C. Stubbs, Camryn G. Stubbs, and Aiden C. Stubbs. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Barry Stubbs.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 11th, at the Denton Church of the Nazarene located at 10660 Greensboro Road in Denton MD where friends may call from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM before the service. The interment will be in Denton Cemetery.
