Christine Spiering of Denton, Maryland passed away on January 9, 2024 just two months before her 96th birthday! She was born at home on March 7th, 1928, in Denton, MD on the family farm next to Garland Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie and Wilbur Andrew, sisters Jean Butler Lundy and Betty Hutchins, her husband Gene C. Spiering, and son Christopher Spiering.
She is survived by her son Charles William Spiering and wife Wanda, Granddaughter Elizabeth Spiering Hignutt (spouse Kevin), and Great Granddaughters Shannon, Allison, and Riley Hignutt.
In addition, she cared deeply about her step-Granddaughter Denise Heather (husband Tom IV) as well as their children Ainsley, Tom V, and Trinity.
She was self-employed as a hairdresser for 40 years in addition to being a dedicated assistant to her husband in his business endeavors. She and Gene liked taking trips nearby for shopping and eating out and to travel far, going to Hawaii three times, South Dakota, California, Nevada, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming.
However, Christine’s happiest moments were the times spent with family and close friends. We always had the pleasure of enjoying her family events and yearly crab feasts! She especially appreciated and loved Patsy Payne who provided her with many happy adventures, meals, and outings.
Friends may visit with the family at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton from 10 until 11 am on Saturday, January 13th. A short memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Then a luncheon celebrating Christine’s life will follow.
The interment will be in private.
Instead of flowers, hug your loved ones a little tighter and donate to your choice of a church or charity or Caroline County Public Library, 100 Market Street, Denton, MD 21629.
