Clarence J. Shaffer, III (Chuckie) of Cordova, MD passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the UM Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD. He was 73 years old.
Born in Chester, PA on August 12, 1952, Mr. Shaffer was the son of the late Clarence Julian Shaffer, Jr. and Mary Etta Whitby Shaffer. He was a 1970 graduate of Queen Anne Co. High School in Centreville, MD.
Mr. Shaffer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he drove a delivery truck for Delmarva Oil (now Pep Up) for fifteen years as well as having driven for the Centreville Post Office and for Sonny Eaton. He had also been a waterman all his life and loved to crab, fish, hunt, and enjoy dining on wild game. Chuckie loved playing cards and many times could be found sitting at the landing or in his shop next to the wood stove either shooting the bull or reminiscing about good times shared with family and friends.
Mr. Shaffer is survived by his wife, Doris J. Shaffer of Cordova; a stepson, Eric T. Knoedler (Tina) of Manheim, PA; a sister, Beverly L. Altvater (David) of Trappe, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Cordova Fire Co. 11864 Kittys Corner Rd, Cordova, MD 21625 on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 1PM. The interment will be private at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
