Artist and photographer, David R. Isenberg of Easton, MD, formerly of Altoona and Lock Haven, PA died on August 1, 2023, after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.
David was born May 18, 1948, son of the late D. Robert “Bob” and Ruth Hepner Isenberg, both of whom were educators.
David graduated from Altoona High School in 1966 where he played tennis. He attended Kent State University before transferring to and graduating from the Philadelphia College of Art with a BFA. He later attended Lock Haven and Penn State Universities.
First and foremost an artist, David started out as a painter and later became a photographer, whose work has appeared in print and at the Academy Art Museum in Easton. In addition to his career as an artist, David held a variety of positions and owned and operated an independent bookstore. David finished his career as a teacher in the Talbot County schools in Easton.
He shared his wry wit with friends in Easton coffee houses, was an avid Orioles fan, and accomplished cook who produced sensational crème brulee, and deeply enjoyed his summer treks to the beach in Delaware.
He is survived by his brother, Timothy Isenberg (Mary Jane) of Lock Haven, PA; nephew, Ian Lilley (Maria); and two great nephews: Jossian and Jaxon Lilley of Williamsport, PA.
He will be greatly missed by the many friends he made in meeting rooms in Easton and Pennsylvania, and most importantly by his longtime companion and angel, Pat Lawton.
