David William Weissert, 77, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Michael Leo Weissert, Sr. and Naomi Kaltreider Weissert. On December 5, 1970, he married the love of his life, Gail J. Chalupa Weissert, and together they built a life rooted in dedication, service, and family.
David was a hardworking and selfless man, known for his passion for landscape, architecture, and gardening. With a keen creative eye, he was always reimagining spaces and bringing beauty to his surroundings.
His lifelong commitment to public service began in his early 20s when he joined the Army Reserves. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Penn State University and a Master of Science in Technology of Management from American University. In 1970, he moved to Denton, Maryland, where he dedicated nearly 50 years to the State of Maryland. He spent 18 years with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources before transitioning to the District Court of Maryland, where he served as Chief Commissioner. His leadership, fairness, and dedication left a lasting impact on the judicial system and the community he served.
David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gail, his children Jonathan and Lindsey, son-in-law Daniel and his grandson Leo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Isa, his brother Michael Jr., and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on March 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Easton Village Clubhouse, 7979 Maiden Point Ct, Easton, MD. Friends and family are invited to honor his remarkable life.
