Delilah “Dolly” Mae Hignutt Henry of Denton, MD, passed away at Arcadia of Denton on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was 82 years old.
Born in Denton, Dolly was a Caroline High School 1957 graduate. After graduating, Dolly met and married her first husband (George Payne). As a military family they were able to spend the first 15 years of marriage travelling the world and seeing some of the finer sights and raising three children.
Dolly met and married her second husband (Marshall Henry) in 1984 and together they became members of the community volunteering for meals on wheels, visiting hospice patients, working at the Samaritan’s House, and numerous other volunteer services. They loved travelling and visiting the small, quaint out of the way places.
She had worked in the public food service for many years. She loved to read, travel, and do family things with her children and grandchildren.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Hignutt, a brother (Jessie), sister (Mary Anne), husband (Marshall), and daughter (Wanda).
She leaves behind her daughter Linda (Doug) Dunn and two sons, Hollon (Marilyn) Payne and Steven Henry. Dolly had 6 grandchildren (Allan, Ricky, Devin, Brandon, Olivia, and Danielle) and 9 great grandchildren (Kennedy, Ali, Will, Wes. Parker, Jake, Josh, Aiden, and Mason).
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 16th, in the Denton Cemetery in West Denton.
