It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Devon Justin Benchoff of Denton, MD on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was 41 years old.
Born in Easton, MD on October 27, 1982, Devon was the loving son of Sheila Jean Behlke (life partner, Edwin "Fred" Satterfield) and the late David James “Jimmy” Benchoff, Sr. A true car enthusiast, Devon was smitten with fixing anything that he could get his hands on. His love of cars came from his dad and Uncle Daniel, watching them restore old Volkswagens and almost anything else that had wheels. A bit of a foodie, he loved his mother's cooking, especially mashed potatoes and mac & cheese, in addition to having a real sweet tooth. Most of all, Devon was a devoted father, son, brother, stepson, stepbrother, cousin, nephew and friend. He had a quick wit, often ready with a joke or funny comeback. Always encountering random creatures and beautiful scenery, he would often take the time for a picture. You may have been lucky enough to receive a random Snapchat to brighten your day. Devon worked in the pool industry for nearly 20 years, recently changing to work at Dodge Overhead Door in Easton, MD.
In addition to his mother, Devon is survived by his son, Gage J. Benchoff; three siblings, Nicole J. Benchoff, Amanda J. Benchoff, and David J. Benchoff II; stepmom Helen L. Benchoff; stepbrother Tony Cecil; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Richard and Jean Behlke and paternal grandparents Paul and Mary Benchoff. Devon will always be missed and never forgotten by all who knew him personally and professionally, and loved him as a father, family member, or friend.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. Second Street, Denton, MD 21629, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment will take place at the Denton Cemetery.
