Diane Marie Conard of Preston, MD, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home with her family at her side. She was 79 years old.
Born in Detroit, MI on May 9, 1944, Mrs. Conard was the daughter of the late Curtis W. Rogers and Margaret Emily Monat Rogers. She had moved to the Eastern Shore of MSD after 1964 and had retired as an administrator with the Talbot County Department of Corrections. In addition, Diane had several jobs over many years that made an impact on her life. First was the Greensboro Hotel. There she found she had a love for cake decorating. In the late 1970’s, the Texaco in Denton is where she met her love, Steve. Preston Trucking was home for many years until they closed. Realizing retirement involved sitting around, she took a cashier job at Walmart. She’s made many memorable friendships over the years which she cherished.
Her passion for cake decorating lasted for many years. She loved reading her books and doing crossword puzzles. She was also a seamstress in her spare time. In the late 70’s and early 80’s, she became a member of the Pelican Club I Ridgely. Jumping from planes became her new hobby. She enjoyed shopping, baking, and going out to dinner with family and friends. Her love for cats and dogs spread over a lifetime.
Mrs. Conard is survived by her husband, Steven A. Conard of Preston; three children: Tanya Hofmann (Andy) of Sarasota, FL, David LeCompte (Debbie) of Preston, and William George LeCompte, Jr. (Donna) of Greensboro; five grandchildren: William L. LeCompte, Erin Moore, Greg Spiering, Ryan Spiering, and Kelley Wolfe; and nine great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 on Sunday, March 3rd, at the Preston Lions Club on Williams Street in Preston. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Caroline Humane Society, 407 West Belle Street, Ridgely, MD 21660.
