Doris Harrison Obituary

Doris “De” Harrison, cherished mother and grandmother died April 13, 2022, at home with her family. She was born to William and Betty Harrison; and married Thomas Sammons, having two daughters: Tiffany and Stephanie. De was a devoted wife and mother, working as a registered nurse while earning her Master’s Nursing degree. She discovered her love of teaching, where she ultimately retired to follow her “true passion of buying and selling junk” as she would say. She enjoyed her morning coffee with her daughters, gardening, warm sunshine, and anything that involved her children and grandchildren. De loved to cook for her family, except for Woodie, the vegetarian, whom she never learned to cook for. She was a devoted follower of Christ, diligent in her study and sharing that love with anyone who would listen. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God” which she used to comfort, support, and teach in any situation. De is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sammons, mother and father William and Betty Harrison, sister Edna Jane Harrison, and brother Francis Harrison. She is survived by her two daughter and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Stephen Orick and Stephanie and Tylden Brice, her granddaughters Rachel Wootten “Woodie”, Emily Matthews “Gracie”, Stephanie Orick “Bitty” and Cheza Brice “Che-Rae”, and great-grandson Garrett Lankford “G-Man”.
