Doris Mary (nee Boswell) Schneider of Denton, MD, died peacefully, at home, with her loving family by her side, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. She was 99 years old.
Doris was the daughter of the late Albert and Irene (Deutsche) Boswell. Born in Bowie, MD on April 15, 1924, Doris was one of eight children.
Mrs. Schneider was the loving and devoted wife of Fred Schneider for 52 years. Together they owned, operated, and grew Schneider’s Garden Center in Bowie, MD. Doris and Fred raised three children in Bowie: Rosemary, JoAnn, and Fred/Ted. After retiring to the Eastern Shore, Doris was able to concentrate on the joys of her life. Entertaining her many friends and family in her home, where many stories and meals were shared, traveling, gardening, sewing and bird watching. Mrs. Schneider greatest passion was painting. She proudly shared her talents with her closest friends and family.
She is survived by three children: Rosemary Wood (David) of Denton, MD, JoAnn Bacon (Steve) of Crofton and Fred “Ted” Schneider (Susan) of Catonsville; eight grandchildren: Stephen, Michael, Kim, Sandy, Scott, Wayne, Wesley, and Timothy; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; sister, Rita Kelly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her devoted caregiver, Michelle D'Orlando. We are grateful for her compassion and kindness throughout the years.
Fred Schneider preceded Doris in death on January 4th, 1996, along with her parents and six siblings: Margaret, Louise, Tony, Myrtle, Martin, and Berniece.
Friends may visit Friday, July 21, 2023, from 9:30-10:15 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM from St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church 108 1st St, Denton, MD 21629. Burial will be in the Denton Cemetery 24865 Meeting House Rd. Denton, MD.
