Doris Sharp Obituary

     Doris Rebecca Wood Sharp of Denton, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years old.

     Born at home in Tuckahoe Neck near Denton, Mrs. Sharp was the daughter of the late Wilbert Perry Butler and Hulda Andrew Butler. Her first husband, Marion David Wood, Sr., died July 1, 1989. Her second husband, Robert Gibson Sharp, died September 7, 2014.

     Mrs. Sharp was a 1942 graduate of the Caroline High School in Denton. She retired from being a tax consultant at age 84, but she never retired from being a mother. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church in Denton.

     Mrs. Sharp is survived by two sons, David Wood, Jr. (Eileen) of Denton and Richard A. Wood (Barbara) of Denton; four daughters: Dottie Waters (Craig) of Trappe, MD, Mary Wood of Easton, MD, Susan Stafford (Michael) of Denton, and Carol Johnson (Wayne) of Annapolis, MD; two step sons, Robert G. Sharp, Jr. of Seaford, DE and Ronald A. Sharp of Woodstock, MD; two stepdaughters, Shirley Niblett of Rehoboth, DE and Janice Dryden Kelch of Littlestown, PA; a sister, Mary Sewell of Crofton, MD; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by eight sisters: Elizabeth Butler, Addie Roth, Margaret Reed, Martha Marvel, Louise Schmotzer, Charlotte Morris, Ruth Hearn, Barbara Tortello; and seven brothers: Gary Butler, Jacob Butler, Frederick Butler, Wilbert Butler, George Butler, H. Alan Butler, and Cornelius Butler.

     A public walk-through visitation will be held from 5 until 7 PM on Friday, March 26th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton. Because of Covid 19 restrictions, the Mass of Christian Burial and the interment will be celebrated privately for the immediate family only. The following will be pallbearers: George Marshall, Brent Marshall, P.J. Dyott, Michael Wood, Earl Foster, and Jerry Weeda. .

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for memorial donations to be sent to the St. Benedicts/St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, 408 Central Ave., Ridgely, MD 21660.
