Elizabeth Ann (Currie) Lynch of Denton, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD. She was 81 years old.
Liz was born in the District of Columbia on March 8, 1944, to the late William and Janet (Brash) Currie. She is survived by the husband, Robert S. Lynch, Sr.: her son, Robert S. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Alison (Lapan) Lynch; granddaughters: Ava, Kyla (Lynch) Richardson and her husband, Joe; great-grandchildren: Rowen and Myra; daughter, Kathleen Buckland and her husband Jesse Buckland; and grandson, Caleb Buckland.
Liz grew up in Wildwood, NJ, except for 18 months when her family moved back to Scotland. She graduated from Wildwood High School in 1962 and moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the State Department. She attended a birthday party in DC on January 14, 1965, where she met the luckiest man in the world, Bob. They were engaged on April 9 and married on October 16, 1965. She left the State Department in 1968 to become a stay-at-home wife until her first child was born in 1970. She went back to work in 1988 at a property management company in Denton and retired from there in 2009.
She taught crafts at nursing homes, did crafts and church services in several nursing homes and senior centers. For many years she taught a Sunday school class for single women, widows, and women whose mates did not attend Sunday school. This gave them support and helped them grow in their relationship with Christ.
She loved to spend time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, collecting and giving Christmas ornaments. She also loved hummingbirds and giraffes. She loved cooking, especially baking Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren, and decorating Easter eggs. Anyone who ever met her was better for it. She sang in the choir at church and is now singing in the heavenly choir where there is no pain.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 15th, at the First Baptist Church located at 115 Idlewild Ave. in Easton, MD where friends may visit from 10:30 until 11 before the service. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery. If friends wish to send memorial donations in memory of Liz, the family suggests sending them to Compass Hospice, 160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 (https://compassregionalhospice.org).
