Elizabeth "Betty Jean" Calloway

     Elizabeth Jean Calloway, lovingly known as "Betty Jean" of Centreville, MD, passed away at the UMD Medical Center at Easton, MD on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Betty Jean was 82 years old.

     On October 14, 1961 she married the love of her life, Charles E. Calloway. They were married for 52 years and together raised 5 children. Mr. Calloway passed away in January 2013.      

     Betty Jean lived on the Eastern Shore all her life, the last 65 years were on Conquest Farm outside of Centreville, MD. She was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed working in her flower beds, shopping, and word puzzles. Earlier years she worked outside the home for Tidewater Publishing in Centreville, for 35 years retiring in 2005.      

     She is survived by one son, Steven E. Calloway (JoEllen), of Centreville; four daughters: Charlene C. Costello, of Ridgely; Carla A. Calloway, of Ridgely; Lori J. Pratt (Rick) of Barclay; Karen T. Quay (companion Steve) of Centreville; a sister Patsy Shields (Jimmy) of Seaford, DE; and six grandchildren: Amanda Eller (Tim), Arika Lockwood (Eric), Alyssa Martin (Justin), Sylvia Quay (Fiancé Brandy), JD Costello (Vicky), and Kirk Quay. Ten great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Pratt.      

     A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located 12 S. Second Street, Denton, MD. Friends and family may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. The interment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery, Hillsboro, MD.
