Ernest T. Harris, Jr. (Ernie) of Denton, MD, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was 87 years old.
Born at home in Denton, Mr. Harris was the son of the late Ernest Thurman Harris, Sr. and Pauline Wright Harris. He graduated from Caroline High School in Denton. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served on the U.S. Army Rifle Team in Germany. He had worked for Danny’s Auto Body Shop in Federalsburg, MD for many years. After retirement, he spent many hours woodworking and built many beautiful items for family and friends. In his younger days, he enjoyed water skiing and boating. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, traveling to many races with his family in their camper.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Beverly (Joan) Harris of Denton; a daughter, Wendy Melvin (Daniel) of Denton; two sons, Martin A. Harris (Laura Lee) of Denton and Donald L. Harris (Stephanie) of Felton, DE; six grandchildren: Cassidy Stafford (Justin), Tyler Melvin, Maddie Harris, Chad Melvin, Chase Harris, and Colby Harris; and a brother-in-law, John Earl Steward (Danielle) of Federalsburg.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 5th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family from 11 until 12 before the service. The interment will be in Denton Cemetery.
