Eunice C. Howard

Eunice Corinne Howard passed away peacefully at The Residences at Eden Green in Denton, MD on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at the age of 97.

Born on September 7th,1928 in Artesian South Dakota, Eunice was the daughter of the late William T. and Eunice Comstock Martin.

Eunice graduated from Caroline High School in 1945. Following her education, Eunice briefly worked at the shirt factory and in Caroline County school cafeterias. She was also employed at the newly opened Caroline Nursing home as cook/kitchen manager where she worked for 22 years until retirement.  Eunice was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist church where she volunteered in many capacities. In addition, she was a longtime volunteer at Samaritan House in Denton. She enjoyed baking, flower arranging, her volunteer activities, and taking care of her family.

Survivors include her son, Larry Howard (Charlene) of Greensboro; daughters: Janet Howard of Denton, Mary Lou Cooper of Oxford and Linda Howard of Delmar, and her bonus daughter, Valarie Brinsfield (John) of Vienna MD. Eunice leaves 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Dawson Howard; five brothers: Tom Martin, Hugh Martin, Bob Martin, Sam Martin and Joe Martin; and four sisters: Nancy Martin, Marguerite Nason, Naomi Storey, and Betty Musgrove.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am on Monday, June 1st at St. Luke’s Methodist Church 100 South Fifth Ave., Denton MD. A funeral service will be held beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following at Denton Cemetery 24865 Meeting House Rd., Denton MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Eunice’s memory to Samaritan House, 12 5th St., Denton Md, 21629 or to Compass Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr., Centreville, MD, 21617.
