Fern Lois Shuler of Denton, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Homestead Manor in Denton. She was 99 years old.
Born in Elmwood, NE on November 19, 1918, Mrs. Shuler was the daughter of the late Grover Hill and Etta Schlanker Hill. Her husband, Joseph Woodley Shuler, died in 1983. Mrs. Shuler left Nebraska in 1936 and moved to Washington, D.C. She and her husband had owned and operated Shuler’s Restaurant in Clinton, MD for many years. She belonged to the Lioness of Clinton, the Widows Club of Clinton, and Surratt’s Seniors. She came to Denton in March 2014.
Mrs. Shuler is survived by her son and his wife, Price and Anne Shuler of Denton; a daughter, Joan Marie Rudolph of Centreville, VA; four grandchildren: Carol Rudolph, Monica Rudolph, Andrew Shuler, and Heather Shuler. She is preceded in death by three siblings: Arley Hill, Boyd Hill, and Delores Rieke; and a grandchild, Philip Rudolph.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 4th in the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton where friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 before the service. On Saturday, May 5th, there will be a visitation with the family from 11 until 12 with a service at 12 noon at the Lee Funeral Home, Inc. located at 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton, MD. The interment will immediately be following in the Epiphany Episcopal Church cemetery located at 3111 Ritchie Road in Forestville, MD.
