Frances M. Rampmeyer Obituary

     Frances M. Rampmeyer (Fran) passed away at The Pines in Easton on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was 87 years old.

     Born at home near Centreville, MD on March 30, 1938, Fran was the daughter of the late William Ellsworth Meredith and Mary Elizabeth Nelson Meredith. She is survived by her husband, Claude “Pete” Rampmeyer of Easton; a son, William (Bill) Rampmeyer and his wife, Jessica; a grandchild, and three step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Steven C. Rampmeyer, and a brother, Bill Meredith.

     Fran graduated from Centreville High School in 1956 and she married her husband, “Pete”, on October 5, 1956. She lived in Centreville and worked for the Queen Anne County Board of Education as secretary until she and her husband moved to Cambridge in 1961. In 1965 she and her family moved to Bowie, MD where Pete worked in the Government Printing Office in the District of Colombia. While living there, Fran worked at Peebles Department Store, Diet Center, and the Presbyterian Church as a secretary. She coordinated the routes and helped deliver the meals. In 1985, she and her husband returned to the Eastern Shore to semi-retire. Fran worked at the Easton Wholesale Company as secretary for twelve years. For a few years she volunteered at Hospice and called Bingo at The Pines Nursing Home. She also worked at The Pines Nursing Home as a part-time receptionist for ten years. In addition, Fran was an avid fan of the Orioles Baseball. She enjoyed numerous pets, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and nature in general.

     Plans for a memorial celebration of Fran’s life have not been decided upon and will be announced in the future. If friends wish to send a memorial donation in memory of Fran, the family suggests sending it to the Talbot County Humane Society, 7894 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601.
