Harry Muir Obituary

     Harry Nice Muir of Denton, MD, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old.

     Born in Monie, MD on March 31, 1935, Mr. Muir was the son of the late Van Bennett Muir, Sr. and Reba Etta Bozman Muir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had retired in 1983 from the MD State Police after 23 years. He then worked for the Dorchester County Court System for 14 years as a Bailiff. He was very active in Caroline County and MD State politics. He belonged to the Manokin Lodge #106 AF&AM in Princess Anne, MD, and was a member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton.

     Mr. Muir is survived by his wife, Rona (Roni) L. Muir of Denton; four children: Howard Muir (Gayle) of Denton, Marilyn Evey (Scott) of Preston, MD, Monica Jones (Jacob) of Lusby, MD, and Harry N. Muir, Jr. (Cathie) of The Villages, FL; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Edward (Ned) James Muir (Mildred) of Princess Anne, MD, Van Bennett Muir, Jr. (Virginia) of Princess Anne, MD, and Allen Fields Muir of The Villages, FL; two sisters-in-laws, Vivian Jones Girman of Wilmington, DE and Kim LeGates Friedle of Ormond Beach, FL. He is predeceased by two sisters and their husbands, Sarah E. White (James) and Ella Muir Walker (Martin) and two brother-in-laws, Frank Girman and Edward Lowe.

     A walk-through visitation will be held from 5 until 7 PM with a Masonic Service at 6 PM on Wednesday, December 16th at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 17th, at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Denton. The interment will be in the MD Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
