J. Kenneth “Kenny” Pryor of Denton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD. He was 73 years old.
Born in Salisbury, MD on August 13, 1950, Kenny was the son of the late William Herman Pryor and Alma Mae Matthews Pryor. He graduated from James M. Bennett High School in 1969 and Jefferson School of Commerce in 1970.
Kenny came to Denton in 1971 and went to work at Choptank Cooperative as a bookkeeper and retired in 2008 as the Plant Cost Accountant. He was a member of the Denton Lions Club, the Burrsville Ruritan, and the Denton Church of the Nazarene. He also volunteered for the Samaritan House and for the United Way of Caroline County in Denton for several years after his retirement.
Kenny is survived by his beloved son, James Kenneth Pryor, Jr. (J.K.) of Denton and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, John George Pryor; and four half-brothers: Irving Pryor, Rev. Elmer Pryor, Allen Pryor, and Raymond Pryor; and a half-sister, Frances Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Sunday, October 29th, at the Denton Church of the Nazarene on Greensboro Road in Denton. Friends may call from 11 to 12 before the service. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery.
