Jacqueline Snyder Mullikin passed away on April 21, 2026, she was 89 years old. She was born on November 8, 1936, on her grandparents’ farm in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Mary Resinger Snyder. She had a deep love for the farm where she was raised and frequently returned to Pennsylvania to visit family. She enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood there, reflecting on the memories that shaped her early years.
In her teenage years, she moved to the Eastern Shore, where she would spend the rest of her life building her home, raising her family, and serving those around her.
In 1954, she married Ivon “Larry” Mullikin. Together they shared many years of marriage and a deep passion for archaeology. Jacqueline worked alongside her husband and played an instrumental role in founding the first archaeology chapter serving the local four-county area. Her dedication extended beyond the local level, as she also served in leadership at the state level, helping to preserve and promote the rich history of the region.
Throughout her life, Jacqueline worked in many roles. She was a caregiver, worked on the farm with her in-laws, and spent time working at a jewelry store. There was not much she could not do, and she approached every task with determination and strength.
Her faith was a central part of who she was. Jacqueline was a devoted and faithful member of Fairview Brethren Church from the time of her baptism in 1949. Her life reflected a quiet strength, a servant’s heart, and a deep love for the Lord that was evident in the way she cared for others.
She found joy in the simple and meaningful things — canning, gardening, and especially spending time with her family. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and was always present for life’s important moments, including school functions, birthday parties, weddings, and other milestones. She loved to stay busy and had little desire to sit still. Whether she was in the garden, cleaning, or canning enough to feed many, she found purpose in her work, continuing even later in life until her health no longer allowed it. She also gave of her time freely, helping at the homeless shelter and volunteering at Camp Mardela.
Later in life, due to health issues, she moved in with her daughter Julie and her husband Bill, who lovingly cared for her with devotion and compassion.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Debra Pahlman (Lloyd), Julie Sylvester (Bill), Mary Virginia Adams (Mike), and James Mullikin (Mari Helen); her nine grandchildren, Michelle, Cynthia (Joe), Jennifer, Laci (David), Ian (Dakota), JL (Alyssa), John (Lindsey), Melissa (Shawn), and Aaron (Ashley); fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Jean Simmons (Ron) of Orlando, FL, Jessie Fortner and her brother in law Billy Mullikin (Delores) of Queen Anne, MD. Her family was her greatest joy and her lasting legacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ivon “Larry” Mullikin; her brother, Jimmy Snyder; and her sisters, Janie Nipple and Ann Wyre.
