James Stanley Howell of Bridgeville, DE, passed away at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He was 67 years old.
Born in Easton, MD on January 23, 1952, Mr. Howell was the son of the late Claude Lee Howell and Catherine Eileen Baynard Howell. His wife, Helen Howell, died August 31, 2015.
Mr. Howell was a 1971 graduate of Easton High School and grew up in St. Michaels, MD. In the late 1970’s, he moved to Bridgeville where he had worked in maintenance at the Woodbridge High School before becoming a bus driver for R&M Buses in Bridgeville. He retired in 2010. He was an avid bowler and also belonged to the Seaford Moose 1728 and was a member of the Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Laurel, DE.
Mr. Howell is survived by two daughters: Stacey L French (Greg) of Bridgeville and Michelle E. Absher (Tyler) of Bridgeville; one son, James S. Howell of Bridgeville; a step-daughter, Mary F. Elliott; one brother, Elvis Howell of Cambridge, MD; two sisters: Carol Ledman of Tilghman Island and Shirley Slaughter of Easton; six grandchildren: Alexis Howell, James Howell III, Blane French, Redden Absher, Laklyn Absher, and Hailey Walls. He is preceded in death by three brothers: Andy Howell, David Howell, and Paul Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 16th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton, MD where friends may visit with the family from 12 until 1 before the service. The interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton, MD.
