James Tilghman Knotts Sr of Hillsboro, MD, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was 87 years old.
Born in Easton, MD on January 15, 1933, Mr. Knotts was the son of the late Joshua Tilghman Knotts and Mabel Nichols Knotts. He graduated from the Centreville High School in 1953. He and his wife, Marlene L. Knotts of Hillsboro, were married on June 1, 1956. On that day, he received his draft notice and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1958, stationed in Korea during that time. After that he spent most of his working career as the Shipping Clerk at Thermolink in Denton. After retiring from there, he worked with his son at Knotts Towing in Ridgely.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Knotts is survived by a daughter, Linda K. Pittman (Steve) of Easton, MD; two sons: Tim Knotts (Nancy) of Easton and Alan Knotts (Cheri) of Ridgely, MD; seven grandchildren: Joshua Knotts, Emily Holiday, Jamie Knotts, Ellen Knotts, Molly Pittman, William Pittman, and Clara Thornton; five great grandchildren: Ashton, Regan, Kensi, Gavin, and Aiden; and two sisters: Joy and Judy. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris, and a brother, Robert.
The memorial services are private in Woodlawn Cemetery near Easton. If friends wish to send memorial donations in memory of Mr. Knotts, the family suggested sending them to the Caroline Humane Society, 407 W. Belle Road, Ridgely, MD 21660.
