James R. Johnson (Jimmy) of Denton, MD, passed away at the University of MD Medical Center on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was 70 years old.
Born on December 1, 1953, Jimmy was the son of the late Jane B. Brown States and Benjamin F. Johnson. He was a 1971 graduate of North Caroline High School. He had been a house painter for 37 years, working for Nanticoke Homes, Homer F. Bramble Painting, and Brittingham Paint and Paper. He was an avid Dirt Track Racing fan, and he never met a stranger.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane K. Johnson of Denton; a son, David T. Johnson of Stevensville, MD; a daughter, Jennifer Thorne (Todd) of Denton; two sisters, Patty Thomason of Denton and Barbara A. Johnson of Denton; and three grandchildren: Caroline D. Johnson of Hurlock, MD, Austen J. Lasher of Denton, and Dean N. Thorne of Denton.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 28th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit from 11 to 12 before the service. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery.
