James Warren Thomas, Sr.

      James Warren Thomas, Sr. of Hillsboro, MD, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Deer’s Head Hospital in Saulisbury, MD. He was 82 years old.

     Born in Ridgely, MD on June 25, 1943, Mr. Thomas was the son of the late Joseph Thomason Thomas and Mary Louise Dadds Thomas. His wife, Sharon Anne Thomas, passed away November 28, 2021.

     Mr. Thomas was a graduate of North Caroline High School. He had worked for many years as a carpenter and had also worked in boat repair.

     Mr. Thomas is survived by five children: Mary Russ (Steven) of Hillsboro, Dawn Shorter (Terry) of Preston, James Warren “Jimmy” Thomas, Jr. (Cher) of Federalsburg, Anna Thomas of Mardela Springs, MD, and Thomas Unruh (Karen) of Henderson; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jo Connell of Stevensville. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Unruh; and a baby brother, Baby Boy Thomas.

     The funeral service will be 11 am on Wednesday, October 1st, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 South Second Street in Denton, where friends may call from 6 until 8 on Tuesday evening. The interment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery in Hillsboro.
