Janet S. Palmatary

     Janet S. Palmatary of Barclay, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

     Born in Felton, Delaware on May 10, 1934, Mrs. Palmatary was the daughter of the late Harold C. Sylvester, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Quillen Sylvester. Her husband, Louis J. Palmatary, passed away on February 6, 2022.

     Mrs. Palmatary graduated from the Felton, DE High School in 1952 and she and Mr. Palmatary were married on March 9, 1957. She was a “farmer’s wife”, doing everything from cooking for the farm help, to driving trucks and milking cows. She and her husband loved to travel, and she was also active in the Church Hill United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She had also been a Queen Anne’s County school bus contractor for 27 years.

     Mrs. Palmatary is survived by two daughters, Nancy P. Pippin (Tommy) of Centreville and Lori P. Benney of Henderson; one son, Eddie Palmatary (Wendy) of Henderson; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Louis Jonathan Palmatary II; a grandchild, Louis Jonathan Palmatary III, two brothers, Nolan Sylvester and Harold C. Sylvester, Jr.; and four sisters: Marie Dukes, Page Brothers, Mary Lou Cooper, and an infant sibling.

     At Mrs. Palmatary’s request, the funeral service will be private for close friends and family only. If friends wish to make memorial donations to a charity in memory of Mrs. Palmatary, the family suggests making them to Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617.
