Jermaine Lotez Ringgold, Sr., of Denton, Maryland, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Sinai Hospital after an almost year-long battle. He was 53 years old.

Jermaine was born on August 26, 1972, at Providence Hospital in Northeast Washington, D.C. He was the beloved son of the late Landra O’lynn Ringgold and Wayne LaMont Robinson. Jermaine spent most of his life in Denton and was the 1991 Graduate of North Caroline High School.

Jermaine excelled in athletics and had a strong passion for sports as a young man. He played baseball, basketball, and ran track, where he showcased his natural talent and determination. One of his proudest athletic accomplishments was placing third in the state in the triple jump.

Jermaine was well known throughout his community and carried a strong presence wherever he went. He lived life on his own terms and built relationships with many people along the way. Those who knew him understood his loyalty, his strength, and the respect he commanded among friends and family. Beyond his athletic talents and strong presence in the community, Jermaine was a devoted family man, a poppop, a cherished friend, and a living legend.

He is survived by his father, Wayne LaMont Robinson of Cambridge; his wife, Erin Cook of Easton; three daughters, Jerna’ Ringgold (Troy) of Queenstown, Journee Ringgold, and Jah’nae Ringgold of Easton; one stepdaughter, Kimauri Lewis of Easton; two sons, Jermaine Ringgold Jr. (Adalea) of Greensboro and Jahsheme Ringgold (Ashanti) of Hamden, Connecticut; and one stepson, Josiah Cook of Easton. He is survived by three grandsons, whom he affectionately called his “Poppop boys”: Kyler Ringgold, Landon Ringgold, and Tristyn Sellman; and three granddaughters: Anya Ringgold, Aspen Ringgold, and Wynn Ringgold.

He is also survived by four sisters, Keila Ringgold of Delaware, Kameia Dukes (Robert) of Maryland, Amber Hill (Royal) of Virginia, and Imani Carter of Virginia; and two brothers, Norman Carter of Delaware and Stuart Robinson of Virginia.

In addition, he is survived by a very special great-aunt, Joyce Perry; great-aunts Clemintine Black, Jackie Moore, and Leomia Seth; four aunts, Sandra Ringgold, Mona Ringgold, Renita Chambers, and Dana Wilson; and two special uncles, Keith Ringgold and Michael Robinson (Beverly).
