John Edward Berger, Jr., 78, of Goldsboro, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Bayhealth Kent Campus Medical Center in Dover, DE. He was surrounded by his loving family and his best friend, Hank Briggs.
Born on December 30, 1945, John was the son of the late John Edward Berger, Sr. and Rosellen L. Cole Berger. He graduated from North Caroline High School in 1963 and Mechanics School in Nashville, TN. He worked for the Chrysler’s Newark Assembly Plant in Newark, DE from 1964 until he retired in 1997.
On May 1, 1981, John married the love of his life, Delinia. A hard-working man all his life who never met an enemy, John loved being a mechanic, driving fast cars, drag racing, motorcycle riding, boating, hunting, fishing, laughing and kidding around. But, most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife Delinia of Goldsboro; two daughters, Sheri Hancock (Wes) and Jenni Middleton (Mike); a stepdaughter, Lorrie Mitchell (fiancé, Joe); two granddaughters, Ashley Mitchell (Donny) and Juli Hancock; two grandsons, Alex Hancock and Mitch Middleton (Monica); four great grandchildren; two dogs, Sandy and Darcey, and a cat, Jazmin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin, and a stepson, Tommy.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Friday, December 27th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 6 PM on Thursday, December 26th, and one hour before the service. The interment will be in Denton Cemetery.
