John “Red Bear” Hafferman of Denton, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He was 66 years old.
Born in Washington, D.C. on October 18, 1953, Red Bear was the son of the late John Joseph Hafferman and Emma Albertina VanHeucke Hafferman. He attended Southern Senior High School in Harwood, MD. Red Bear was a self-employed carpenter and had lived in Denton since 1988. A very spiritual man, he was extremely connected to his Native American heritage. An avid motorcyclist, he was a member of the Kingsmans Motorcycle Club in Shady Side Deale, MD.
Red Bear is survived by his wife, Theresa (Teri) Hafferman of Denton; three sons: Luke M. Stottlemyer (Maurissa) of Greensboro, MD, John A. Hafferman (Samantha) of Ocean Pines, MD, and Steven J. Hafferman (Samantha) of Chestertown, MD; two daughters: J. Albertina (Tina) Blottenberger (Joshua) of Dover, DE and Marsha D. Schultz (Jeff Bodine) of Federalsburg, MD; one sister, Marie Chantal Schreck (Butch) of Pylesville, MD. Renee Wong (Rob Dottellis) of Chesapeake Beach, MD; and seven grandchildren: Bryce, Aaron, Delilah, Trevor, Lilian, Ariana and Aubrey.
Following Covid 19 restrictions, there will be a walk through viewing/visitation. It will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 30th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton, MD. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
