Joyce Baker Andrew

Joyce Baker Andrew of Denton, Maryland, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was 93 years old.

Born at home in Denton on September 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles “Doc” Turner Baker and Willye Cora Taylor Baker. Graduated Caroline High School 1949 where she then went to work at REA until 1952. Joyce also worked at Baker Printing Company from 1952-1961. Following Baker Printing company Joyce took her position which she is much known for has Matron of Caroline County Jail.   Joyce held that position from 1961 to 1994, while her husband Louis Andrew held office as Sheriff of Caroline County. Joyce was life long member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church of Denton, MD. 

Joyce is survived by her son, Richard “Ricky” Andrew (Mary Sue); three grandchildren: Jacob Andrew, Daniel Andrew, and Matthew Andrew; 11 great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews; and a close friend / caregiver Norma Lloyd. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Chance Andrew; son, Charles Andrew; and brother, Charles “Bud” Baker.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD 21629. The funeral service will follow at 11AM. Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
