K. Gene Hetrick

    K. Gene Hetrick of Preston, MD, passed away at the UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, MD on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. He was 83 years old.

     Born in Grantsville, MD on January 13, 1941, Mr. Hetrick was the son of the late Kenneth Everette Hetrick and Margie Lucille Hetrick. He moved to the Eastern Shore when he was fifteen to work on his uncle’s dairy farm, and graduated from High School in Princess Anne, MD.

     He is survived by his wife, Elaine Pilchard Hetrick of Preston, who he married 64 years ago on October 14, 1960. He was a sales manager for Pilchard Sealed Storage, selling Harvestore Silos for 17 years before training horses for 16 years and then became a hay and grain farmer. He loved to hunt deer, geese, and ducks. But, most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

     In addition to his wife, Mr. Hetrick is survived by three sons: Carroll G. Hetrick (Sammi) of Preston, Rick A. Hetrick (Chasity) of Preston, and Brian S. Hetrick (Jennifer) of Preston; two grandchildren, Jamie Helwig (Josh) of Denton and Wesley Hetrick of Preston, and a great grandchild, Sonora Elaine Helwig; two brothers, Larry Hetrick (Brenda) of Mt. Airy, MD and David Hetrick (Tami) of Rohrersville, MD; two nephews, Dennis Hetrick (Carrie) and Nick Hetrick (Ashley); a brother-in-law, Eric Roberts, and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved uncle, Marvin Miller of Grantsville, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister, Debra K. Roberts, and a nephew, Michael Hetrick.

     A Memorial Service will be held on August 3, 2024 at 11 am at the Caroline Country Club, 24820 Pealiquor Rd. Denton, MD. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately from 12 to 4 pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend both services.
