Kathryn “Kay” Blakeslee Roe Miller of Centreville, MD passed away at her home on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was 92 years old.
Born in Wye Mills, MD on February 23, 1932, Kay had lived in Queen Anne’s County her entire life. She was the daughter of the late John Baggs T. Roe, Sr, and Kathryn Elizabeth Blakeslee Roe. Her husband, John E. Miller, passed away on March 1, 1992. Kay graduated from Centerville High School in 1949. Before marriage, she was a seamstress at the Perfect Apparel sewing factory in Centreville. She also had an upholstery business with Mrs. Ruth Gibson. She was a Lifetime 4-H All Star and for years cooked for the 4-H camp in Centreville becoming known as “Momma K”. In later years she enjoyed reading, needle crafts, and made many blankets for Project Linus. In addition, she belonged to the Chapter #69 Order of the Eastern Star. But, most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Kay is survived by her two daughters, Susanne M. Gay of Centreville and Emily M. Grinavíc (Dave) of Centreville; two sons: Samuel E. Miller (Rosella) of Church Hill, MD and Andrew B. Miller of Barclay, MD; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a daughter, Paula Marie Miller; a brother, John B. Roe; and two sisters, Mary Ann Massey and Maud Seward.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 3rd at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova where friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 before the service. The interment will follow in the St, Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
