Kevin G. Menzel passed away at his home in Denton, MD on May 17, 2024 with his beloved wife by his side. After a long & hard fought battle with cancer, he is now cancer free with his Lord & Savior in Heaven! He was 61 years old.
Born in Baltimore, MD on December 29, 1962, Mr. Menzel was the son of the late George D. Menzel & Phyllis L. Upperman Menzel. He was a 1980 graduate of Glen Burnie High School. Mr. Menzel was a man with a strong & meticulous work ethic. He worked as a welder with his family business, George’s Welding Service in Baltimore, for over 40 years & he was in demand for specialty welding throughout the country, welding for many companies & educational institutions. His favorite hobby was Civil War reenactment with the 4th Maryland Light Artillery where he became a Sergeant and was Sergeant Major with Alexander's Battalion. He was also very active with the Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, DE where his service to the Lord included being Saturday night Usher Captain & missionary work including travelling to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, & to disaster areas throughout the United States.
Mr. Menzel is survived by his wife, Sheila Hubbard Menzel of Denton; two sons: Michael C. Menzel of Denton & Justus M. Gellert (Heather) & two precious granddaughters, Arla & Raina Gellert all of Greensboro; two brothers, Michael J. Menzel (Pattie) of Dover, DE & David K. Menzel, Sr. (Pat); & his step mother, Joyce E. Menzel, all of Pasadena; two nephews, David K. Menzel, Jr. of Glen Burnie & John Sardo of Salisbury; a brother in law, Clark Hubbard (Carolyn) of Denton and one niece, Auburn Hubbard of Greensboro. Kevin was also seen as a father figure for many years to Raymond J. Gellert, Jr. of Jackson, MS.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, May 23rd, at the Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE where friends may call from 11 until 12 before the service. The interment will be private.
