Louise Sharp Horney of Denton, MD, passed away at Bayleigh Chase in Easton, MD. She was 104 years old.
Born at home in Hobbs near Denton on January 4, 1921, Mrs. Sharp-Horney was the daughter of the late Frank Adams and Narcissa Neighbors Adams. Her first husband, Paul V. Sharp, Sr., passed away on December 11, 1957. Her second husband, Roy M. Horney, passed away on March 12, 2003.
Mrs. Sharp-Horney was a 1937 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton. She then graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE and worked as a secretary for several businesses in Denton. She worked for many years as the secretary for Gale Electric in Denton. Respected and loved by all, she was an active and essential member of her community and the AMES United Methodist Church in Hobbs. In addition, she was an avid bowler until her late 80’s.
The last of nine children herself, Mrs. Sharp-Horney is survived by a son, Richard “Rick” A. Sharp and his wife, Marsha, of Greensboro, MD; daughter-in-law, Mary Sharp; five grandchildren: Paul Vernon Sharp, III (Jill), David Sharp (Joanna), Richard A. Sharp, Jr. (Tara), Kenneth E. Sharp (Lacy), and Danielle Milash (Zach); and also her beloved caretaker, Janet Lynn Shaffer. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by a son, Paul V. Sharp, Jr.
Mrs. Sharp-Horney’s funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, November 17th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton, where friends may visit with the family from 11 to 12 before the service.
The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery in West Denton. If friends want to send memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Sharp-Horney, the family suggests sending them to AMES United Methodist Church, PO Box 145, Preston, MD 21655.
