Louise D. Kolakowski, of Cordova, MD, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Sunday, April 26, 2026. She was 81.
Born in Easton, MD, on June 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ellwood Dulin and Elisabeth Hollister Dulin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip J. Kolakowski, on November 27, 2004, and a daughter-in-law, Jona E. Kolakowski, on March 18, 2018.
Mrs. Kolakowski was a 1962 graduate of Centreville High School and continued her education at Goldey-Beacom Business School in Wilmington, DE. She dedicated more than twenty years of service as a mail carrier in Talbot County with the United States Postal Service. A faithful member of Fairview Church of the Brethren in Cordova, she was deeply devoted to her family and her faith.
Known lovingly as “Mim-Mim,” she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, school activities, and church events, and she treasured time at the beach with family and friends. She will also be remembered for her exceptional knitting skills and her tradition of creating handmade blankets to welcome new babies born to family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lynn Schisler (Thomas) of Chincoteague, VA; her sons, Phillip Brian Kolakowski (Joni) and Mark Stephen Kolakowski, both of Cordova, MD; and ten grandchildren: Tyras (Brittany), Brock, Kirby, Levi (Haley), Joy (Derrick), Megan (Michael), Nathan, Nicole (Kevin), Brittany (Zach), and Tyler (Courtney). She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren: Cooper, Baker, Rosemarie, Selah, Bennett, Roman, Beau, Grayson, Paislie, Caden, Emerson Jona, Paislie, Sayler, and Scott; her devoted friend, Janet Bond of Easton, whose steadfast care and enduring friendship meant so much to Louise and her family; and her beloved dog, Chester.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at Fairview Church of the Brethren, Chapel Road, Cordova. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Fairview Church Cemetery.
