Mabel Kenton Crane of Denton, MD, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, MD where she spent her last days being cared for by Hospice and the excellent caregivers at Caroline Nursing who treated her like a friend. She was 78 years old. Mabel was a resident of Denton for over 40 years and was well known in the community for her love of children and her crafts. She loved playing bingo, working on her crafts, and caring for her long-time friend Charles Dennis of Denton, MD.
Mabel was born on September 11, 1946, in Marydel, DE. She was the daughter of the late Stanley & Mary Kenton of Goldsboro, MD, and the wife of the late Oliver C. Crane Sr. She was the mother of Oliver C. Crane Jr. (deceased), Mary Ann Beals of Caldwell, ID, and Jeffrey Crane (formerly of Grosse Point, OR) now residing in Denton, MD. She was a grandmother to 8 grandchildren (1 deceased) and a great-grandmother to 3 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 sisters: Dorothy Dear, Betty Thomas, Rachel Hitchens, Pauline Dulin; and 1 brother, Albert “Sonny” Kenton.
She was predeceased by 2 sisters: Ruth Porter and Jean Cohee; 1 brother, Robert Kenton; 3 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
A service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11AM, in the Greensboro Cemetery 311 S. Main St. Greensboro, MD 21639.
